Port Adelaide edge Sydney Swans in tough AFL Round 6 clash

Port Adelaide News

Port Adelaide have claimed a gritty eight-point win over Sydney at the SCG, continuing their resurgence in 2025 with a wire-to-wire 13.7 (85) to 10.17 (77) victory in Round 6 of the 2025 AFL season.

The Power led from the opening bounce and held off a late surge from the Swans to secure back-to-back wins.

Skipper Zak Butters led the way for Port Adelaide with another inspirational performance, steering his team through a tough final term as Sydney mounted a spirited comeback.

The Swans, battling injury concerns, struggled to convert their chances early and paid the price for poor accuracy in front of goal.

Sydney kicked five goals to three in the final quarter, with substitute Aaron Francis injecting life into the contest with three final-term majors.

Despite his heroics and strong support from Isaac Heeney and Will Hayward (two goals each), the Swans finished with 10.17 and ultimately fell short.

For Port, the attacking trio of Willie Rioli, Mitch Georgiades, and Sam Powell-Pepper proved decisive. Rioli and Georgiades each finished with three goals, while Powell-Pepper added two in a strong showing.

Port also received vital contributions from Ollie Lord, Zak Rozee, Tom Cochrane, Willem Drew, and Darcy Byrne-Jones, who each hit the scoreboard.

The win lifts Port Adelaide to 3-3 on the season and keeps them within striking distance of the top eight, while the Swans slide to 2-4 after another frustrating close defeat.
