Pelethronius extends winning campaign
Pelethronius has maintained an unbeaten record since resuming to allow holiday-bound jockey Tye Angland to sign off with a Randwick double.
The David Pfieffer-trained galloper made it four wins from as many starts this campaign in beating Invincible Knight by a half length.
Pelethronius ($7.50) has now gone back-to-back at Randwick and is undefeated at the track..
“The horse is going great, we’ve got him in the right time of year,” Pfieffer said.
Pfieffer said the Coffs Harbour Cup (1600m) on August 3 remained on the radar before Pelethronius heads to the spelling paddock.
“We’re still keen on that as a consideration depending on what sort of weight we get,” he said.
Angland, who won the first race on Assimilate, was pleased to head for a break on a winning note.
“I came into this meeting with nice rides and we had a bit of luck in running. To bookend the program on my last day of the season, I’m happy,” he said.
