Parramatta Eels rocked by Zac Lomax foot injury

Parramatta Eels NRL betting news

Just days after delivering Parramatta’s first win of the NRL season with a golden-point field goal, Zac Lomax has been hit with a crushing injury setback.

The 25-year-old winger was the hero on Saturday afternoon, slotting the match-winning one-pointer against his old club, St. George Illawarra, in front of a raucous CommBank Stadium crowd. But celebrations have quickly turned to concern, with the Eels confirming Lomax suffered a fractured foot in the match.

Scans revealed the extent of the injury earlier this week, and the club announced on Wednesday that Lomax will be sidelined for at least six weeks.

The layoff casts serious doubt over his availability for the opening game of this year’s State of Origin series, with NSW coach Laurie Daley believed to have pencilled Lomax in for a starting wing spot.

Lomax took to Instagram on Tuesday night, posting a series of images from the Round 5 win with the caption “BRB Fam” – a subtle nod to his looming absence.

It’s another tough blow for Parramatta, who are already without star halfback and skipper Mitchell Moses (foot) and key forward Jack Williams (hamstring) until at least Round 9.

Lomax and Moses have been two of the club’s standout performers in a turbulent start to the 2025 campaign.

Although winning their last game, the Eels odds in the least wins market have plummeted following the news of Lomax’s injury, with top NRL bookmakers pricing them as a $5.00 favorite.

Parramatta will now need to reshuffle their backline ahead of this weekend’s clash as they look to build momentum in the absence of their marquee men.
