Round 10: Panthers vs Bulldogs match preview

Friday night football for round 10 of the 2024 NRL Premiership kicks off in Penrith with the Panthers hosting a much-improved Bulldogs side at BlueBet Stadium.

The Canterbury Bulldogs finished round nine in eighth place on the NRL ladder after their win over the Tigers. They have now won three of their last five matches, including victories over the Newcastle Knights and Sydney Roosters.

The Penrith Panthers enter round 10 in third place on the NRL ladder having beaten the Rabbitohs by 30 points last weekend. Chasing a fourth successive premiership, they are yet to lose at home this season.

While Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has named an unchanged lineup, Ivan Cleary has been forced to shuffle the deck chairs for the Panthers.

Izack Tago is out suspended, while star halfback Nathan Cleary has been cleared to return from a hamstring injury. Paul Alamoti will start in the centres, while Liam Henry has been added to the interchange with Matt Eisenhuth making way.

The return of Cleary to the starting side has forced top NRL bookmakers to trim the head-to-head betting odds, so the home side will start as a short-priced favourite.

Penrith Panthers v Canterbury Bulldogs betting strategy

The Panthers have won both halves in five of their last six matches against the Bulldogs, and they’ve covered the points line in each of their last four matches at home. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have lost each of their last 17 matchups against top-four teams. The -15.5 handicap for the Panthers is short enough for punters to take at -111.11 with Neds.

The Bulldogs have improved sharply in both attack and defence this season, but travelling to Penrith is a different beast.
