Panthers v Titans R27 preview

The Panthers will be looking to lock in a top-two spot this Saturday night as they host the Titans at Penrith Park in the final round of the 2024 NRL season.

After consecutive losses to the Storm and the Raiders, Penrith returned to winning form last Friday night with a 22-point victory over the Rabbitohs. Scoring three tries in each half, Ivan Cleary’s men were far too strong in attack while keeping the opposition to just 12 points.

With the Roosters going down to the Raiders last Sunday, the Panthers can now secure a spot in the top two with a win. At home and with much more on the line, it is no surprise to see the Panthers as overwhelming favourites at $1.11 with PlayUp.

Star halfback Nathan Cleary remains a week away, so Jarome Luai and Brad Schneider remain the halves pairing for Penrith. There is just one change this week as Scott Sorensen returns in the second row, pushing Luke Garner to the bench and Matt Eisenhuth to 18th man.

The Titans suffered their fourth consecutive loss last Sunday, falling to the Knights by 22 points in Newcastle. After a solid first-half performance, Gold Coast fell apart late and conceded five second-half tries.

Des Hasler’s men have struggled throughout this year and look set to finish in 14th place. Conceding an average of 40 points per game over the last four weeks, they are rank outsiders for this clash at $6.50 with Bet365.

Panthers v Titans betting strategy

With nothing on the line, it is hard to see how the Titans will match the Panthers. Penrith have won the past five meetings between the sides, and given Gold Coast’s recent defensive struggles, this could easily become a blowout.
