Penrith Panthers v Melbourne Storm preview

Round 24 of the 2024 NRL Premiership kicks off this Thursday night in Penrith with a blockbuster clash between the Panthers and Storm.

Penrith continued their winning form last Friday night, beating the Parramatta Eels by two points. In a high-scoring clash, the Panthers scored three tries in the last seven minutes to erase a 14-point deficit and snatch an unlikely victory.

Ivan Cleary’s men have now won their past five matches in a row and sit comfortably in second place on the NRL ladder. With the home-ground advantage, they enter this clash at $1.65 with PlayUp.

Panthers forwards Liam Martin (suspended) and Scott Sorensen (hamstring) will both miss this week, so Liam Henry and Mavrik Geyer move into the starting side. Jack Cole has been added to the bench, while fullback Dylan Edwards and star prop James Fisher-Harris are named among the reserves and could be late inclusions.

Melbourne were also successful last Thursday night, comfortably dealing with the Rabbitohs by 12 points in Sydney. Scoring five of the first six tries in the match, the Storm were never challenged as they made amends for their shock defeat to the Dragons in round 22.

As Melbourne are two points ahead of Penrith on the ladder, expect this match to decide the minor premiership. The Storm won when these sides met in round one, but on the road, they are underdogs at $2.50 with Bet365.

With the return of second-rower Eli Katoa, Storm coach Craig Bellamy has shifted the magnets this week. Trent Loiero moves to lock, Nelson Asofa-Solomona to prop and Tui Kamikamika to the bench, while Chris Lewis drops to the reserves.
