Outraged atones for luckless Millions run
Outraged confirmed his unlucky third in the Magic Millions Trophy with a Sunshine Coast win.
Trainer Kelly Schweida could still manage a smile even though there was almost $500,000 difference in prize money when Outraged avenged his unlucky defeat in the Magic Millions Trophy.
Outraged was rated as a certainty beaten when third in a three-way photo in the Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) at the Gold Coast which carried first prize of $600,000 two weeks ago.
Starting favourite, Outraged ($2.30) made no mistake at the Sunshine Coast winning by three lengths to Morendi ($8.50) with a half neck to Ingeegoodbee ($9.50).
Outraged picked up $90,000 for his Magic Millions Trophy third and $40,200 for his win on Saturday.
Schweida said Outraged had been pushed deep in the Millions Trophy and had done a great job to get third.
“It is well short of the $600,000 first prize at the Gold Coast but there are a lot of positives out of today’s win,” Schweida said.
“It was his first try at 2400 metres and he had them covered a long way out. He really appreciated the bigger track.”
“Maybe he would be up to a race like the Caloundra Cup in the winter. But there is a 2200-metre race in a fortnight at Doomben which will be his next run.”
Lloyd said Outraged had travelled well throughout and had finished the race off like a true stayer.
