NRL Round 6: Melbourne Storm v New Zealand Warriors preview

The Storm and Warriors collide in a blockbuster NRL Round 6 clash between two top-four contenders at AAMI Park this Sunday.

Melbourne are coming off a 48-24 demolition of the Sea Eagles and have dominated this rivalry, winning 16 straight against the Warriors.

Jahrome Hughes’ early return sparked the Storm attack, and with Cam Munster, Ryan Papenhuyzen and Harry Grant in sync, they’re firing on all cylinders, with the top NRL betting sites expecting a one-sided affair this weekend.

The Warriors enjoyed a bye last week and have quietly pieced together three straight wins.

Luke Metcalf and Chanel Harris-Tavita are starting to gel in the halves, while fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has been outstanding with his metres and effort plays.

The Storm average 35.5 points per game in 2025 and have won 22 of their last 24 matches at AAMI Park, while New Zealand haven’t won in Melbourne since 2014.

The Kiwis have been leaky away from home and are conceding 27 points per game on the road, which is bad news against the most clinical attacking side in the NRL.

Storm vs Warriors NRL Rd 6 betting predictions

The Storm have owned this matchup and look likely to cover the -16.5 line again. Hughes’ return adds polish to an attack that leads the league in efficiency. Melbourne’s edge runners will be dangerous again, and their outside backs are scoring for fun. Back them to cover at $1.90 with BetOnline.

Storm centre Jack Howarth is a value tryscorer pick at $2.65 with BetOnline. The Warriors have leaked tries to right centres in four of their last five away games, and with Hughes creating space on the right edge, Howarth is primed to strike.

With both sides averaging high points and the Storm likely to rack up a score, the over 52.5 is a strong play. Their last nine meetings have averaged 56 total points, and with dry conditions forecast, expect another try-fest. Take the overs at $1.90 with BetOnline.
