NRL Round 6: Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney Roosters preview

The Brisbane Broncos host the Sydney Roosters on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium, and the home side will be looking for another statement win in what’s been an explosive start to 2025 NRL season.

Kevin Walters’ side crushed the Chooks 50-14 in Round 1 and have scored more points than any other team through the opening five rounds, with the Round 5 win over the Tigers was another clinic, piling on 46 points despite a poor completion rate.

Defensively, Brisbane have leaked some points, but it hasn’t mattered — they’re winning through sheer attacking firepower. With a +74 points differential while going at 32.8 points per game, the Broncos have been a punter’s dream so far.

The Roosters, meanwhile, are in a rut. They’ve lost four of their last five and blew a lead against a depleted Rabbitohs outfit last week.

Sydney’s defensive numbers are among the worst in the league, as they rank bottom four in linebreaks conceded, metres allowed, and opposition possession. Unsurprisingly, coach Trent Robinson has made some key changes in a bid to stop the rot.

Brisbane are 4-1 and red-hot favourites for a reason. And with the Roosters’ confidence in tatters and injuries mounting, another blowout feels on the cards with the top rugby league betting sites.

Broncos vs Roosters NRL Round 6 betting predictions

Brisbane smashed the Roosters by 36 points in Round 1 and now return home even stronger. The Chooks are scrambling for form and fielding an untested halves combo against one of the NRL’s best attacks. The Broncos should win this comfortably and cover the 15.5-point line with room to spare, paying $1.90 at BetOnline.

Payne Haas has been monstrous through the middle for Brisbane and is due for another meat pie. The Roosters have had major issues defending big bodies close to the line, and Haas is the most damaging forward in the NRL. At $4.50 with BetOnline, he is serious value as a power-running tryscorer.

These sides combined for 64 points in their last meeting, and Brisbane’s scoring has stayed red-hot ever since. The Roosters might snag a few points, but the Broncos could easily run up 40 on their own. With both teams trending over, the match total of 50.5 at BetOnline should be cleared.
