With just four weeks left in the NRL 2025 regular season, Round 24 kicks off on Thursday, August 14, and will see finals contenders and underdogs clash in must-win games that could define the top-eight race.

Melbourne Storm vs Penrith Panthers

Thursday, August 14 – 7:50pm AEST – CommBank Stadium

Penrith’s nine-game winning streak has them back in the top four, but Melbourne’s Thursday night record is outstanding — 14 wins from their last 15 on the day. The Storm will miss Ryan Papenhuyzen and Jahrome Hughes, yet Cameron Munster and Harry Grant are still capable of steering an upset. The Panthers are favourites with the top online bookmakers, but Melbourne’s proven big-game mettle makes them live value.

New Zealand Warriors vs St George Illawarra Dragons

Friday, August 15 – 6pm AEST – Go Media Stadium

The Warriors have slumped to three straight defeats and welcome a Dragons side thriving as giant killers, fresh off back-to-back wins over top-eight opponents. Shane Flanagan’s men are defending with steel and finding clutch moments in attack. Given the Warriors’ wobble, the Dragons loom as one of the weekend’s best-value underdogs.

Sydney Roosters vs Canterbury Bulldogs

Friday, August 15 – 8pm AEST – Allianz Stadium

The Roosters are flying with 84 points scored and just 16 conceded over the past two weeks. Sam Walker’s kicking game and James Tedesco’s leadership have them peaking at the right time. The Bulldogs are a quality defensive unit, but the Tricolours’ momentum — and home record against the Dogs — tips this one their way.

Cronulla Sharks vs Gold Coast Titans

Saturday, August 16 – 3pm AEST – PointsBet Stadium

Cronulla have won 10 of their last 11 against the Titans, who are battling to avoid the wooden spoon. Even without Briton Nikora, the Sharks still boast plenty of strike power through Nicho Hynes, Ronaldo Mulitalo, and Addin Fonua-Blake. If Cronulla’s attack clicks, this could blow out quickly.

Brisbane Broncos vs Dolphins

Saturday, August 16 – 5:30pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium

Injuries have ripped through Brisbane’s spine, with Adam Reynolds, Ezra Mam, and Selwyn Cobbo all sidelined. The Dolphins were embarrassed by the Roosters last week but remain a dangerous counter-attacking side, and they’ve already beaten the Broncos at Suncorp before. Expect the ‘Phins to lift in this derby.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Parramatta Eels

Saturday, August 16 – 7:35pm AEST – Accor Stadium

The Rabbitohs look better with Latrell Mitchell back, but they remain heavily undermanned. Parramatta’s attack has lifted with Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown reunited, and their edge speed has been finding plenty of joy. Against a weakened Souths outfit, the Eels can control territory and cover the line.

Wests Tigers vs Manly Sea Eagles

Sunday, August 17 – 2pm AEST – Allianz Stadium

Manly’s season is on the line after three straight defeats, and Tom Trbojevic looms as the game-breaker. The Tigers are gritty, but their defence will be tested by Daly Cherry-Evans’ kicking game and Manly’s outside backs. If the Sea Eagles get rolling, this could be a big one.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Newcastle Knights

Sunday, August 17 – 4:05pm AEST – Queensland Country Bank Stadium

The Cowboys have dominated Newcastle in Townsville, winning their last six meetings there. With Scott Drinkwater and Tom Dearden pulling the strings and Jeremiah Nanai a constant threat on the edge, they can put a struggling Knights defence under real pressure.
