NRL Round 10 Preview: Titans vs Cowboys
Round ten wraps up with a Queensland Derby on the Gold Coast, with the battling Titans hosting the North Queensland Cowboys, who are also under pressure.
The Titans have been on the bad end of incredibly narrow losses to the Raiders, Sea Eagles and Storm over the last month. Had all three results fallen their way, the home side would be battling for a spot in the top eight on the NRL Ladder.
Similarly, the Cowboys were let down by Valentine Holmes and his goal-kicking last weekend when they lost to the Dolphins by two points. They’ve suffered much worse losses than the Titans in recent weeks, yet find themselves in the fight for the top eight.
North Queensland Cowboys head coach Todd Payten will welcome Chad Townsend (knee) back into the starting side from injury, with Jake Clifford dropping back to the reserves. Jordan McLean (hamstring) is out injured, with Thomas Mikaele promoted to the starting side and Harrison Edwards named on the interchange bench to make his club debut.
Gold Coast Titans coach Des Hasler has also made changes to his side, with Tanah Boyd (wrist) out injured. Keano Kini is expected to start at fullback, with AJ Brimson shifting to the halves and Chris Randall to the interchange bench. Moeaki Fotuaika has also been named to return from concussion in the starting side in place of Joe Stimson.

Titans vs Cowboys Rd 10 Betting Picks
The Cowboys will start as strong bookmaker favourites in this match, with their veteran halfback returning to the side.
These two sides met in round five this year and the Cowboys prevailed, despite Townsend being sin-binned for a hip drop tackle, thanks to a clinical performance from Scott Drinkwater at fullback. Not only have the Titans lost four of their last five matches to the Cowboys, but they’ve also lost seven of their last eight games and failed to cover the line in each of their last nine clashes with sides on a losing streak. The visitors should be able to win and cover the short -2.5 point line (-106.38).
Point scoring has not been the biggest issue facing either of these sides this season. Following their high-scoring match in round five, the Titans have played in two games with 50+ points being scored, a feat the Cowboys achieved last weekend. With each of the Cowboys’ last seven matches going over the total match points line, punters should expect plenty of tries with 50 points or more in the match (-111.11).
Valentine Holmes’ form since he last met the Titans has been red-hot with three tries being scored from four line breaks with 16 tackle breaks despite carrying the ball for just 113 running metres on average. He’s also scored a try in each of his last four away matches, and should find a fifth this weekend (+135).
