NRL Rd 8 injury report: Big outs aplenty across ANZAC Round
It was another phenomenal instalment of the annual ANZAC Round in the 2024 NRL Premiership, and injuries have continued to pile up throughout the competition.
Gold Coast Titans forward Mo Fotuaika failed to finish Thursday afternoon’s match against the Warriors in Auckland after failing a head-injury assessment and appearing to show Category 1 concussion symptoms.
He will likely be subject to the NRL’s 11-day concussion stand-down protocol and miss this Saturday’s clash with the Storm on the Gold Coast.
Thursday’s annual meeting between the Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons at Allianz Stadium featured late changes to both sides.

The hosts lost Victor Radley (hamstring) and Daniel Tupou (knee) before kickoff, with the Roosters yet to confirm if the pair will spend an extended period on the sidelines.
Veteran centre Michael Jennings failed to finish the match after suffering a triceps injury and will likely miss one or two weeks.
Mikaele Ravalawa was a late omission from the Dragons side with knee soreness, although the club is yet to confirm the extent of the issue.
St George Illawarra centre Mosese Suli collided with Roosters forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the opening exchanges and was subsequently ruled out with a Category 1 concussion, meaning he will miss Sunday’s clash with the Sharks in Cronulla.
In Friday night’s fiery clash between the Storm and Rabbitohs at AAMI Park, Melbourne winger Xavier Coates left the field after his hat-trick with a hamstring injury and could miss a few weeks of footy.
Wests Tigers hooker Apisai Koroisau failed to finish Saturday evening’s clash between the Broncos and Tigers in Campbelltown after suffering a lower-back injury because of a tackle from Xavier Willison.
However, the Tigers are confident he will be fit to take the field against the Bulldogs in round nine at Accor Stadium.
Brisbane Broncos stars Reece Walsh and Adam Reynolds failed to finish the match due to cramps, but they should be fit the face the Roosters at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
Broncos backup half Jock Madden appeared to suffer a pectoral injury and is doubtful for round nine, although the club is hoping it is just a shoulder problem with the video failing to show typical signs of a pectoral rupture.
North Queensland Cowboys centre Tom Chester was unable to finish Saturday night’s clash against the Panthers in Townsville after suffering a hamstring injury and is expected to spend multiple weeks on the sidelines.
Penrith Panthers trio Scott Sorenson (knee), Moses Leota (shoulder) and Sunia Turuva (knee) were all late omissions from the starting side, with no further information provided by the club.
Newcastle Knights forward Daniel Saifiti failed to finish Sunday’s match against the Dolphins after suffering what was reported as an ankle or Achilles injury, although replays suggest it could be a soft-tissue problem.
