NRL Rd 11 SuperCoach preview, best buys & top trade-outs
Round 11 is an important one in the grand scheme of the 2023 NRL season for SuperCoach players, depending on your individual goals.
Those looking for overall success will need to continue building their squad into one that will have 13 players available for the round 13 byes, while head-to-head players will be more focused on building squad value where possible.
Thankfully, the injury lists for teams across the league are shortening rapidly. Here is a look at the top SuperCoach trade options for this week’s NRL games.
TRADE IN
Max Feagai (CTW)
Zac Lomax being sensationally dropped by St George Illawarra Dragons coach Anthony Griffin could come not only to the benefit of Max Feagai, but also to SuperCoaches. In Ben Hunt’s 300th NRL game, players like Feagai should be motivated enough to put on a big performance against the Cowboys — the side that beat Hunt in his only chance to win a premiership to date. Players like Feagai will need to step up, and if he does, he could cement a position in this starting side for the Dragons. That would be a brilliant result for SuperCoaches as he is set to improve significantly in value and cover the round 13 bye coming up.
Brandon Wakeham (5/8, HFB)
Brandon Wakeham is an interesting option for SuperCoaches in upcoming rounds. The Wests Tigers look to be turning a corner with halfback Luke Brooks finding confidence again at the top level, and with that should come more attacking opportunities for Wakeham as the second or third receiver. Wakeham has scored well in the last fortnight and could continue to do so with a favourable draw. Low breakevens mean he will become more valuable, especially being a dual-position player.
Jack Wighton (5/8)
In recent weeks, Jack Wighton has announced his retirement from representative football and his decision to move to the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2024. Perhaps those moves have lifted a weight off his shoulders, because the star five-eighth has posted 172 points across his last two games for the Canberra Raiders. With games coming up against the Eels, Sea Eagles and Tigers, and with the Raiders playing in round 13, Wighton could be headed for a big month of SuperCoach scoring.
Matthew Timoko (CTW)
Round 13 bye coverage and recent form are just two factors that make Matt Timoko an interesting trade option. Perhaps the biggest reason SuperCoaches should consider bringing the Raiders centre into their side is the fact he is owned by only 1.4% of players. This provides a brilliant point-of-difference selection for players looking to move up the overall rankings quickly.
Jack De Belin (FRF, 2RF)
Since his return from injury in round five, Jack De Belin has skyrocketed into the equation for SuperCoaches. Over the last three weeks, the Dragons forward has averaged 75 points per game despite losing all three matches narrowly. De Belin again provides round 13 bye coverage, while his dual-position status makes balancing a team over the next two months much easier.
TRADE OUT
Tyrell Sloan (CTW, FLB)
A month ago, many SuperCoaches looked at Tyrell Sloan as a player who could be going from strength to strength in first grade. However, the Dragons fullback has failed to score more than 40 points in either of his last two matches, having recorded over 170 points in the two matches prior. Sloan’s high breakeven is a concern, while his history of a rocky relationship with coach Griffin is no good for his job security.
