Thursday night NRL doesn’t get much better as the Melbourne Storm travel to Sydney to take on the Eels in Parramatta. Both sides are absolutely flying having dismantled the Broncos, and Bulldogs in recent weeks. The Storm did go down to the Roosters last week, but given they are competition heavy weights leading into September, they can’t read too much into the loss. The winner of this match will go a long way to deciding the top four for the NRL finals series, and with such a large points differential between the two sides, the Eels will be needing to win to give themselves the best chance they have. It was the Eels who first stunned the competition by travelling to Melbourne to beat the Storm in their own city, but will the Eels be able to defend their home ground?
The Parramatta Eels have named an unchanged side to the one that belted the Broncos in Brisbane, while the Storm have been forced to make changes. Interchange forward tom Eisenhuth has been forced to the sidelines due to a knee injury, bringing Chris Lewis on to the bench. Late changes will be expected with Tui Kamikamica expected to come into the starting side in place of Felise Kaufusi.
The Melbourne Storm have won 24 of the 41 clashes, which is reflected in their odds, but it also represented that the Eels have won their last three games in a row against the Storm. It’s interesting to note that all of those three victories for the Eels have come at short margins. The Eels have been brilliant in weeks past, but the Storm have already been through one losing streak this season, it’s hard to anticipate another one occurring. The $1.85 odds are great value for a side so well drilled and coached and should be victorious in their trip to Parramatta.
Maika Sivo is an absolute try scoring freak at Commbank Stadium. The Eels attack is built around creating time and space for the Eels to give Sivo the ball in space on the outside of his opposition winger to score in the corner. However, if the Eels are unsuccessful in doing so, Sivo is still so big and powerful he can run over almost any defender to score. With the top Australian bookmakers pricing him at $1.90, he is almost a lock to score.
Justin Olam will be one man the Storm look for in attack, who will be running at Will Penisini. It was not an area the Storm attacked on round three, making it more likely for them to head in that direction on Thursday night. Players have likened tackling Olam to tackling a brick wall. Should the star centre get time and space on his left edge, he’ll be incredibly hard to stop from scoring at the $2.80 odds with Palmerbet.
KEY MATCH UP: CAMERON MUNSTER v DYLAN BROWN
This will be the battle of the two best five-eighths in the NRL. Munster and Brown are so incredibly similar in their ability to run, kick and pass the football. Both players will have their hands full defending the halfback of the opposite side, as well as the inevitable fact that their opposing second rower will be isolated with them in defending situations to tire them out. Whichever of these two man stands up more defensively, and turns that solid defence into attack, the better equipped they will be to help their side win this game. That win will surely come through the ability these two players have to break open the game at the drop of a hat with an incredible dummy pass, side step, fend or simply one of the rare and unstoppable runs they can produce.

With hughes out due to injury, will the Storms be able to outplay the best pivots combination of Mitchel-Brown?. Munster may take up 2 roles as in fullback and five-eigth, which can worn him out. Johns to fill in for Hughes, will be something he will have to work smart to create way for his hard running backs.
