NRL: Hunt eager to grow Broncos halves pairing with Reynolds

Brisbane Broncos News

Brisbane Broncos five-eighth Ben Hunt is eager to develop his pairing with halfback Adam Reynolds, with the duo set to line up against the Sydney Roosters in Round 6 of the 2025 NRL Premiership on Friday evening at Suncorp Stadium.

Both players are vastly experienced, but they have only had five games together since Hunt’s off-season switch from the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Their combination so far has led the Broncos to four victories and second on the NRL ladder, with rugby league bookies pricing them at $4.33 to win the competition, behind only the Melbourne Storm ($2.50).

But Hunt believes there are plenty of areas for the two to improve as a partnership.

“There’s definitely some room for growth there, for sure,” he said.

“I guess the way we’re playing, we’re a little bit separate on different sides of the field.

“We’ve got some opportunities where we do come together and play a bit, so it’s something that we’ve been working on pretty hard and it’ll just keep growing.

“You always keep a few things in your back pocket for certain games and things like that, so we’ll just keep tinkering away and working on things.”

More accustomed to wearing the No.7 jersey himself, Hunt was full of praise for Reynolds based on their short time together so far.

“His kicking game’s I reckon the best in the league,” he said.

“Really it’s just his leadership and control, I think that’s the biggest thing.

“His leadership and direction, he’s playing on the ball, he’s in the middle of the field all the time, he’s getting our forwards around

“He did miss a large chunk of the pre-season, so we sort of started off a bit on the back foot, but I think we’re where we need to be.

“I think with how we’re combining together and letting him do his thing and I worry about my job, I think it’s working pretty well.”

The Broncos and Roosters have met already in 2025, with Brisbane doling out a 50-14 thrashing in Round 1.

BetOnline has the Broncos winning by 13 or more points again priced at just $1.70.
