NRL 2024 Grand Final preview – Storm v Panthers
The Penrith Panthers will be looking to clinch a fourth consecutive premiership when they face the Melbourne Storm in the 2024 NRL Grand Final at Accor Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Odds have fluctuated for the rematch of the 2020 decider. Both sides opened at $1.92 with online bookmakers, but the Storm have since shortened into outright favouritism.
These two sides last met in Penrith in round 24, when the Storm won by two points. The Panthers were without Liam Martin, Luke Garner and Scott Sorenson, while they lost halfback Nathan Cleary to a shoulder injury partway through the match.

Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona was sin-binned for a high shot in that match, and coach Craig Bellamy will again be without his enforcer after a hit on Roosters forward Lindsay Collins cost him a five-game suspension.
Tui Kamikamica will start in Asofa-Solomona’s place, with up-and-coming star Lazarus Vaalepu named on the bench. However, Bellamy has not yet confirmed whether Vaalepu or reserve forward Joe Chan will fill the final spot on the interchange.
Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has named an unchanged line-up following last week’s win over the Cronulla Sharks. However, there is speculation surrounding the selection of backup half Brad Schneider, who has played just nine minutes in his last two matches off the bench.

Storm v Panthers NRL Grand Final predictions
The Panthers have won each of their last 11 finals since 2020, including two wins over the Storm. While Melbourne have arguably been the more impressive side in this year’s finals series, the $1.98 quote at Unibet is great value for the Panthers to win their fourth NRL Premiership in a row.
Penrith winger Brian To’o has been one of the club’s best big-game players in recent years. The Samoa international has scored tries in seven of his last eight finals, including the opener in three of his last five. At $8.75 with top NRL bookies, To’o is great value to score the first try once again.
These are the two of the best defensive teams in the NRL, with Penrith conceding the fewest points of any side in the regular season. Although each of Melbourne’s last six matches have had 41 points or more scored, Sunday’s decider will be different kind of contest.
