No charges against trainer Kane Harris
Trainer Kane Harris will not have to answer cobalt charges but has been interviewed by Racing Victoria stewards over public comments he made regarding a potential case against him
Pre-race blood samples taken from two of the trainer’s horses last month showed cobalt levels above the threshold of 100mcg per litre of urine but testing on the reserve portions came in under the level allowing for the measure of uncertainty.
RV said in the absence of scientific evidence supporting the detection of cobalt in both the reserve samples at a prohibited level, the stewards ultimately determined it was not reasonably open to exercise their discretion to pursue charges.
Earlier this month, Harris told broadcaster racing.com he had been told he had cobalt positives but said his was a clean stable and he had no idea how the levels came about.
Stewards had not released any information at that stage.
Harris was interviewed on Tuesday regarding his comments with stewards adjourning the matter.
