Nikolic wants second chance, likely in Qld
Jockey Danny Nikolic says he wants a second chance to resume a racing career, likely in Queensland.
Nikolic is appealing against Racing Victoria’s decision to reject his application for a jockey licence, four years after he was outed from the sport.
Nikolic said he had done his time for his past wrongful acts, which included threatening Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey and assaulting four people.
He said he wanted a second chance to ride horses again.
“What’s gone on in the past, I’m better qualified to handle the situation after I’ve spent a serious amount of time on the sidelines and I’ve had counselling and look at things from a different perspective.” Nikolic said.
Nikolic said he would likely base himself in Queensland if he regained his jockey licence, and fly in to ride in NSW and Victoria.
Queensland racing authorities have also rejected Nikolic’s licence application.
Nikolic continues giving evidence in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on Tuesday.
