Nieta blows rivals her away at Rosehill
Prolific winner Nieta has racked up her fifth victory from nine starts in a career that could have been even more impressive had it not been interrupted by a wind operation.
The four-year-old came from midfield to take care of her rivals in a few strides to win Saturday’s TAB Rewards (1100m) at Rosehill, putting 2-3/4 lengths on Infra Dig and justifying her $2.50 favouritism.
Nieta was ridden by Josh Parr who said he was confident before and during the race.
“I haven’t been so confident after a track gallop as I was this week,” Parr said.
“She is just so bombproof and has an explosive turn of foot.”
Trainer John Thompson said Nieta would return to Rosehill for the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) before heading to the Gold Coast for the rich Magic Millions meeting.
“She had wind operation so we’ve worked out that it’s best to keep her fresh,” Thompson said.
“After the Starlight we’ll freshen her again and take her up for the Magic Millions sprint.
“It’s a million-dollar race and she deserves a shot at it.”
