Houston Texans vs Dallas Cowboys NFL game preview
The Houston Texans face the struggling Dallas Cowboys this Tuesday as they look to extend their lead at the top of the AFC South.
It has been a tough ride in recent weeks for the Texans and that continued last Sunday as they fell to the Detroit Lions thanks to a last second field goal. Despite leading by 16 points at half time, Houston collapsed in the second half, conceding 19 unanswered points.
The Texans have now lost three of their last four games, with their record dropping to 6-4. However, in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL, they remain comfortably clear at the top.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud has been at the front of these recent struggles, throwing just two touchdowns in the last four weeks. But as they face Dallas with a backup quarterback, it is no surprise to see them as substantial favourites at -370.37 with Neds bookmaker.
In a major boost for the Texans, star wide receiver Nico Collins is expected to return from a knee injury. But defensive line pair Will Anderson Jr. (ankle) and Foley Fatukasi (foot) are in doubt.

The Cowboys suffered their fourth consecutive defeat last Sunday, as they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-6. With Dak Prescott ruled out for the season, backup quarterback Cooper Rush struggled, throwing for just 45 yards.
At 3-6 and missing their starting quarterback, head coach Mike McCarthy is seemingly fighting for his job over the remainder of the season. Top NFL sportsbooks aren’t expecting much from the Cowboys, offering odds of +280 at PlayUp.
Dallas cornerback pair DaRon Bland (foot) and Jourdan Lewis (neck) have not practiced this week, while linebacker Nick Vigil (foot) is also in doubt.
Houston Texans v Dallas Cowboys betting strategy
Given the Cowboys’ performance last week, it is hard to see them turning it around, particularly against quality opposition. Expect a statement performance from C.J. Stroud and the Texans, covering the alternate line of -10.5 points at +136 with leading online bookmakers.
After the Cowboys scored just six points last week, don’t expect this to be a high scoring affair. Each of the last four Texans games have gone under the total points line, so backing this game to go under the line of 42.5 points should be a safe bet at -111.11 with Dabble.
Throughout this season, Texans running back Joe Mixon has been very impressive, averaging over 93 rushing yards per game. Additionally, he has found the endzone at a consistent rate, scoring a touchdown in all but one game. With the Texans expected to get on top, Mixon should see plenty of action on the ground and offers a value selection for two or more touchdowns at +210 with Bet365.
