NFL Wild Card Betting preview

The NFL Playoffs continue this Sunday with a trio of Wildcard matchups across the AFC and NFC.

Below are bettingsite.com.au’s top betting previews and tips for all three games across the day.

Denver Broncos vs Buffalo Bills

Monday, January 13 – 4:00am AEDT – Highmark Stadium, New York

Kicking off the day, the Buffalo Bills enter as strong favourites against the Denver Broncos.

Denver surprised many this season, taking a rookie quarterback in a rebuilding year to the playoffs. They secured their playoff spot with a 38-0 win over the heavily rested Chiefs in Week 18, but there are concerns after they lost the two weeks prior.

Most of the Broncos’ success this season has come on the back of their strong defence. They rank third in the league for total points conceded while also sitting in the top 10 for takeaways.

Quarterback Bo Nix has impressed in his rookie season, but he throws a lot of turnovers, which is something the Broncos cannot afford in this game. Looking at the touchdown markets, Courtland Sutton (+150) was his favourite target throughout the year, while wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. (+240) has four touchdowns in the last two weeks.

Considered over-achievers to this point, it is no surprise to see the Broncos are heavy underdogs on the road at +350 with top NFL bookmakers.

On the other hand, the Bills enter these playoffs in excellent form. Prior to Week 18, where they rested plenty of starters, the Bills had won 10 of their last 11 games, including wins over both #1 seeds.

Quarterback Josh Allen is the MVP favourite at -250 with leading sports betting apps, as he leads the AFC’s best offence.

Allen (-125) and running back James Cook (-125) are the most likely options to find the endzone on the ground, while wide receiver Khalil Shakir (+190) was the WR1 this season.

Given the way the Bills offence is playing, it is hard to see how the Broncos can keep up in this clash. Bo Nix should struggle in his first playoff game, so back the Bills to cover the line of -8.5 at -111.11 with Marantelli Bet.

Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles

Monday, January 13 – 7:30am AEDT – Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

In the second match of the day, a pair of injured quarterbacks face off as the Philadelphia Eagles host the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers finished the season on a mixed run of form, with narrow losses to the Vikings and Lions alongside dominant wins over the Saints and Seahawks.

Despite having their playoff position locked in by Week 18, they chose to field quarterback Jordan Love, who subsequently injured his elbow. While cleared for this game, there are doubts around his health.

As a team, the Packers are very well-rounded; they rank inside the top six for points and yards against, while on offence they have excellent depth in both the run and pass game.

Running back Josh Jacobs (+100) is the obvious pick to score, given he has found the endzone in each of his last eight games. With five genuine threats in the air, take your pick from the receiving corps.

The Eagles are also dealing with their own worries at quarterback, with Jalen Hurts set to play his first game since Week 16.

Philadelphia concluded the season with a 14-3 record, demonstrating their dominance on both offensive and defensive aspects. They had the second-best rushing offence in the NFL, while on defence they limited opposition passing better than anyone else. At home they are favourites at -243.9 with BetOnline.

Running back Saquon Barkley (-151.52) is the player to watch given he scored 15 touchdowns and led the NFL in rushing yards this season. Hurts (-111.11) is always a threat to score from the ‘Tush Push’, while A.J Brown (+140) and DeVonta Smith (+160) are the main targets in the air.

With the quality of offensive options in the Green Bay lineup, expect this game to be close. Both teams will look heavily towards the rush and while the Eagles should still get the job done, the line of +5 for the Packers is in play.

Washington Commanders vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Monday, January 13 – 11:00am AEDT – Raymond James Stadium, Tampa

The final game of the day is arguably the most unpredictable as the Washington Commanders head on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Entering the playoffs, there are few teams in better form than the Commanders, who have won their last five, including a game over the Eagles.

Washington, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, has also surpassed expectations this season. Although they lack an elite defence, the Commanders’ offence was able to get the job done, ranking inside the top five in the NFL for points scored.

The rushing duo of Brian Robinson Jr. (+110) and Daniels (+150) are the main threats to finding the endzone on the ground. Meanwhile, wide receiver Terry McLaurin will be looking to add to his 13 touchdowns this season.

As a team and at quarterback, experience plays a vital role in the playoffs, and as a result, the Commanders are slight underdogs in this clash at +140 with Marantelli Bet.

The Buccaneers also enter this clash in excellent form, winning six of their last seven games this season to secure the AFC South title.

Similar to the Commanders, the Bucs have been disappointing in defence, but their offence has been excellent, ranking inside the top five for total points and yards this season.

The experienced Mike Evans (-120.48) has been excellent once again at wide receiver this season with 11 touchdowns. But also watch out for a pair of rookies, running back Bucky Irving (-163.93) and Jalen McMillan (+150) who have been in excellent scoring form.

With the total points line set at 50 points, top sports bookmakers are expecting this to be the highest scoring game of the weekend.

While the Bucs are slight favourite at home, Jayden Daniels and the Commanders continue to impress each week. As he faces his biggest test yet, expect him to be up for the challenge, securing the upset win at +140 with Marantelli Bet.
