Newnham expects boost from Star Sensation
Trainer Mark Newnham is banking on Star Sensation’s second-up record to help the filly bounce back from a sketchy comeback at Rosehill.
The three-year-old returns to the same Sydney track on Saturday for the Poitrel Hall Of Fame Handicap (1400m).
Star Sensation’s slow start in a Benchmark 77 Handicap (1200m) on May 5 proved costly before the $4 equal favourite finished second last, 2-1/4 lengths from winner Sedition.
“She just missed the start and was out of the race,” Newnham said.

“It was run at a very hectic pace and that was probably going to find her out first-up.
“She’s worked well so I’d expect her to race really well. She’ll take good improvement from that run and her second-up form is two from two,” he said.
Newnham also saddles up Canyonero for the two-year-old’s first race since January in the Abercorn Hall Of Fame Handicap (1200m)
The Pierro colt will try to break his maiden at the third attempt.
