New Qld racing partnership in first win

Robert Heathcote has landed his first winner training in partnership with Chris Anderson.

The new Anderson-Heathcote training partnership has wasted no time in getting its first winner with Vienna Moon winning at Eagle Farm.

Five-times Brisbane premier trainer Robert Heathcote and rising star Chris Anderson announced they were going into a partnership six weeks ago.

After many hours of thrashing out the finer details, the partnership got rolling at Eagle Farm with their second ever runner Vienna Moon leading all the way to win a benchmark race.

Heathcote said partnerships were the future in racing.

“We have 100 horses but we are keen to get more. We have an open day on Sunday when we will be syndicating more horses,” he said.

Anderson said it was an exciting time and obviously a thrill to get a winner so soon.

“We won’t be working any less but we will be using our time better,” he said.

Trainer Barry Baldwin had only one regret when Mufasta won the BRC.Com.Au (1600m).

“I would have loved to have run him in the three year old over 2200m,” Baldwin said.

“But he is a week or two behind so we had to stick at 1600m. I think he will eventually make a stayer.”

Mufasta was bred and raced by Lucky Pippos who also has boom horse The Candy Man, a runner at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Searing Speed won the three-year-old race and trainer Brian Wakefield believes he will also make a top stayer.

“He ran class record when he won his previous start at Toowoomba and he has shown plenty of ability,” Wakefield said.

Jockey Matt McGillivray cemented his new association with trainer Matt Dunn when he won on expensive galloper Bullet Speed.

McGillivray won his first race for Dunn on Tuesday at Grafton and hopes his success will lead to more rides.

“I had a few rides for Matt without any luck so it is good to start winning for him,” McGillivray said.

Dunn has taken his time with the $340,000 yearling but it looks like paying off.

“He’s got the bloodlines behind him being by Snitzel and I think he is going places,” Dunn said.
