A Melbourne derby kicks off round 11 as the first-placed United take on the third-placed Phoenix in what promises to be an exciting clash between contrasting play styles. United have won the past four matches between the sides and come in as favourites once again.

South East Melbourne Phoenix vs Illawarra Hawks
Saturday, December 16 – 5:30pm AEDT – Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium
Following their impressive win over the Wildcats last weekend, the Illawarra Hawks will be full of confidence as they travel to face the Phoenix. In their second match of the week, the Phoenix have a quick turnaround and will need to be wary of the dangerous Hawks. Despite this, the Hawks are the lowest-scoring team in the NBL and will need to drastically improve on the offensive end to threaten here.
Melbourne United vs Adelaide 36ers
Saturday, December 16 – 8pm AEDT – John Cain Arena
The Adelaide 36ers need a rapid change of fortune if they are going to turn their season around. Sitting in last place, the 36ers have lost their last three matches by an average of 21 points and face another challenge this week as they travel to Melbourne to face the league leaders. Playing their second match of the weekend, United should be confident of a result.
Tasmania JackJumpers vs Sydney Kings
Sunday, December 17 – 2pm AEDT – MyState Bank Arena
The Sydney Kings have tumbled down the standings with three losses in their past four matches. Facing the in-form JackJumpers this weekend, the Kings need a much-improved defensive effort after conceding over 100 points in each of their last three losses. Making the trip back from Perth for their second match of the weekend, the Tasmanian side will need to be wary of the Kings, who remain the top offensive team in the NBL.
Brisbane Bullets vs Cairns Taipans
Sunday, December 17 – 3pm AEST – Nissan Arena
In the final match of round 11, the two Queensland sides face off in what should be an exciting clash between two finals chances. The Bullets will be keen to bounce back from their disappointing 35-point loss to Melbourne United last week, while the Taipans will be hoping to continue their promising recent form. The previous two matches between the sides this season have both been within five points, so expect another close contest.
