Munce fulfils promise to Singapore owner
Jockey Jeff Lloyd urges Dazzling Red (right) to the line to win at Doomben.
Trainer Chris Munce’s promise to Singapore-based owner Melvin Foo that he would win a Saturday race with Dazzling Red was fulfilled at Doomben.
Dazzling Red ($6) gave jockey Jeff Lloyd the first two winners when he stormed home to beat the favourite Miss Exfactor ($1.85) by three-quarters of a length in the Broncos Superstore Handicap (1200m).
It was Dazzling Red’s third win in a row after scoring at the Gold Coast and Beaudesert.
Munce said Dazzling Red had taken a major leap forward since he was gelded before this campaign.
“He ran fast time when he won at the Gold Coast and fast time again at Beaudesert. He is really on the improve,” Munce said.
“I told Mr Foo that I would win a Saturday race with Dazzling Red and I don’t think he believed me.”
Lloyd said Dazzling Red had led easily but when Miss Exfactor and Zukaz went past him early he got a perfect run in third place.
