Multi tips and bookie specials for the AFL Round 5 Anzac weekend
ANZAC Day weekend is here and the AFL has put on a sensational round of footy for the fans.
The Dons Pies traditional clash is on, but we have games spread out across five days, which is enough to satisfy even the most insatiable footy fan.
Last week we generated a healthy $4.08 return on our AFL multi and we are certain we have put together another winning parlay for BettingSite.com.au readers.
All odds for the fifth week of the AFL season were provided by Sportsbet.com.au.
Selections for the Anzac Day weekend AFL Round 5 AFL multi:
Adelaide Crows to beat Gold Coast Suns ($1.25)
GWS Giants to defeat Sydney Swans ($1.45)
Fremantle Dockers to beat North Melbourne Kangaroos ($1.50)
Melbourne Demons to win against the Richmond Tigers ($2.10)
Combined multi value: $5.70 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Gold Coast Suns vs. Adelaide Crows
Saturday, April 22 from 4.35 pm AEST, Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast
The rampant Crows travel to Queensland to face the resurgent Suns in the first leg of our AFL multi.
Adelaide are the best team in the competition right now and have an offense that no team in the AFL can match defensively. The South Australians made light work of Essendon last week and show no signs of slowing down any time soon.
After a disastrous opening fortnight to the season, the Gold Coast have levelled their season win loss ratio at 2-2 after crushing Hawthorn and Carlton back-to-back.
The Hawks and the Blues are not even close to the same level as the Crows however, and we cannot see any other outcome than an Adelaide win to kick start our multi.
Adelaide Crows to win – $1.25
Sydney Swans vs. GWS Giants
Saturday, April 22 from 7.25 pm AEST, Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney
The battle of the bridge takes us to the second leg of AFL multi and we believe the little brother will reign supreme over the winless big brother on Saturday.
The Swans were outclassed by the Eagles last week and sit winless at the bottom of the table alongside the Hawks and Roos. Sydney should welcome back important players over the coming weeks but is it too late at 0-4?
GWS are doing what they need to do in 2017. Most predicted the men in orange would walk it in this season but not everything is going their way. Still, Leon Cameron’s men sit in the top-four and have the best percentage outside the undefeated teams.
The Swans will trouble the Giants but we are still backing GWS to get the win.
GWS Giants to win – $1.45
Fremantle Dockers vs. North Melbourne Kangaroos
Saturday, April 22 from 7.40 pm AEST, Domain Stadium, Perth
The Dockers are back in business and the Kangaroos are winless in 2017, Saturday night looks like another fruitless night in the west for the visitors.
Fremantle came to the MCG and conquered in a big way against the Demons last week. They proved that they could be a factor this season after their upset win over the reigning premiers the week before.
North Melbourne has challenged for sustained periods this year but have failed to register a single point across four games. Many pundits predicted it would be a lean year for the Roos but to be 0-5 to start the season would be an unmitigated disaster.
That is exactly what we think will happen though. Fremantle should move to 3-2, leaving the Roos at the bottom of the table in the process.
Fremantle Dockers to win – $1.50
Richmond Tigers vs. Melbourne Demons
Monday, April 24 from 7.25 pm AEST, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
The undefeated Tigers host the disappointing Demons at the MCG on ANZAC Day eve in the final leg of our AFL multi.
The Tigers have been terrific so far this season, but their year has been slightly overrated to date. They have beaten the teams they have needed to however, and are deservedly 4-0 to start the campaign.
The Demons could easily have been undefeated this season, but wayward kicking and player suspensions have costed them dearly. This week they welcome back forward Jesse Hogan, who will be keen to atone.
The stage seems to set for the Demons to bounce back here. We are backing Simon Goodwin’s men to stop the rot and win at good odds to round out our AFL multi.
Melbourne Demons to win – $2.10
