Mr Marbellouz breaks Doomben class record
Boom Toowoomba galloper Mr Marbellouz confirmed trainer Kevin Kemp’s big opinion, setting a class record at his first Brisbane run on Saturday.
Sent out favourite, Mr Marbellouz ($2.40) jumped straight to the lead and went on to beat Lifesaver ($11) by seven lengths in the Cascade Plate (1050m) at Doomben.
He clocked 59.64 seconds which took 0.34 seconds off the class record and was just outside the course record of 59.19 held by top mare Hidden Pearl.
Mr Marbellouz has now won four of his five starts and Kemp is keen to get him out to 1200m.
Kemp had Mr Marbellouz entered for Toowoomba on Friday but elected to take on city class instead.
“When he drew barrier one I thought it would be a great chance to test him in town. He won even more easily than I expected and we might have a bit of horse on our hands,” Kemp said.
“They attacked him in the lead but he was still far too strong.”
