Mitchell Moses leads Eels to big win over Tigers on Easter Monday
Mitchell Moses made a triumphant return to steer the Parramatta Eels to a dramatic 38-22 win over the Wests Tigers on Easter Monday, in a chaotic contest packed with controversy, brilliance, and big moments at CommBank Stadium.
Playing his first game this year, Moses was instrumental in the Eels’ revival, laying on several try assists and kicking crucial goals in a match that saw the momentum swing wildly.
His vision and control guided Parramatta out of early trouble, and his late kick to set up Bailey Simonsson’s try in the 75th minute effectively sealed the contest.
A powerful finish from Alex Seyfarth and Luke Laulilii kept the Tigers in the hunt, but their lack of polish and a string of errors allowed Parramatta to storm home.
The Eels launched a blistering second-half onslaught, scoring two tries in the space of 10 minutes through Sam Tuivaiti, Isaiah Iongi both capitalising on defensive lapses from the Tigers.
Josh Addo-Carr added a try-saving intercept and later sealed the match in the 78th minute, punishing another loose pass with a clinical finish.
Tempers flared midway through the second half when Eels forward Luca Moretti and Tigers winger Sunia Turuva were both sin-binned following a sideline melee, before Isaiah Iongi was also sent to the bin shortly after. Despite the numbers advantage, the Tigers failed to capitalise.
A string of key moments defined the match — Moses’ 40/20 kick in the 13th minute, Tuilagi’s try off a hip-drop penalty restart, and the Tigers’ costly handling errors under pressure. Moses finished with four try assists and a goal in his return.
Wests Tigers will rue their missed chances and poor discipline, which extended their losing streak to four. Meanwhile, Parramatta’s attack looks revitalised with Moses back, and the Eels now appear poised to climb the NRL ladder.
