Min Woo Lee claims first PGA Tour title at Houston Open
Australia’s Min Woo Lee has stormed into golf’s top echelon with a thrilling wire-to-wire victory at the Houston Open, securing his maiden PGA Tour title in dramatic fashion on Monday morning (AEDT).
The 26-year-old from Western Australia held off a late charge from world No.1 Scottie Scheffler and major winner Gary Woodland to win by a single shot, finishing at 20-under-par after a gritty final-round 67.
After starting the day with a four-shot lead, Lee looked to be cruising before the pressure ramped up on the back nine.
Scheffler launched a blistering finish, carding four straight birdies and signing for a seven-under 63, while Woodland posted a tournament record-equalling 62 to set the clubhouse mark at 19-under.
But Lee dug deep when it mattered most, saving par from the fringe on the final hole with a nerveless up-and-down to avoid a playoff and seal the biggest win of his career.
“It’s unbelievable,” Lee said post-round.
“It was a big mental grind and I’m very proud.
“Having Scottie and the crowd out there made it nerve-wracking, but this means the world.”
The victory adds to Lee’s growing global résumé, with prior wins on the European, Asian, and Australasian tours.
His Houston triumph comes at the perfect time, providing serious momentum ahead of the 2025 Masters, which kicks off at Augusta National on April 10.
Lee is paying $29 with top golf betting sites to win the Masters, while Scheffler leads the market at $5 with BetOnline.
