Millions hopeful responds to gear switch
Trainer Bryan Guy will give Absolutlypositivly her chance to make the Magic Millions Guineas field.
The addition of ear muffs to the racing gear of three-year-old filly Absolutlypositivly has transformed her into a genuine Magic Millions Guineas hope.
Absolutlypositivly ($4) made it three career wins and two from two since a spell when she beat older mares at the Gold Coast.
Trainers Bryan and Daniel Guy have always had high hopes for the filly who did herself no favours in her early races by over-racing.
However, the Guys put ear muffs on Absolutlypositivly for this preparation and she has not looked back.
“We tried ear muffs in trackwork and then she trialled in them. She has won both her race starts carrying them,” Bryan Guy said.
“She should have enough prize money to get into the Vo Rogue Plate on Saturday fortnight.”
“From there we are looking at the Magic Million Guineas.
“I know it is a big step but we have always had an opinion of her.
“We put her in a stakes race at her second race start. One thing the Magic Millions is at the Gold Coast and she is unbeaten in three goes on the track.”
Absolutlypositivly is raced by an Aquis Farm syndicate that also had a winner for trainer Steve O’Dea in Scallopini.
A $200,000 buy as a yearling Scallopini ($2.10) is raced by Aquis and O’Dea’s other biggest client, Jamie Walter’s Proven Thoroughbreds.
“Scallopini showed promise at his first run last year but a leg infection set him back and he has had a year away from racing,” stable manager Matt Hoysted said.
Toowoomba trainer Tony Sears produced a promising mare in former Victorian mare Expolsive Evie who was backed into $3.90 favourite before winning.
Veteran jockey Nozi Tomizawa’s decison to ride more in the metropoltan area paid off again when Conquering Miss ($8) gave him his third city winner in a fortnight.
