Miami Grand Prix 2025 F1 preview, odds & predictions
Formula 1 heads to Florida for round five of the 2025 season, with Max Verstappen on pole position for the Miami Grand Prix. Lando Norris will start alongside him in P2 after his sprint race win, while Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli lines up an incredible P3 after a breakthrough qualifying under the lights at the Miami International Autodrome. The race is set to begin at 6am AEST.
Verstappen heads front row as Lando Norris win Sprint race
Max Verstappen once again reminded everyone why he’s never to be counted out, delivering a blistering Q3 lap to put his Red Bull on pole for the Miami Grand Prix. The reigning world champion looks primed for a strong start, but he’ll have McLaren’s Lando Norris right behind him, ready to pounce off the line.
Rain is looming for Monday’s race, and if the wet Sprint session was any indication, we could be in for a chaotic Grand Prix filled with safety cars and the potential for some strategic masterclasses to shape the final result.
Lando Norris looked sharp all weekend and capitalised perfectly during the Sprint race, claiming victory at $3.00 with BetOnline thanks to a well-timed safety car that helped close the gap to teammate Oscar Piastri in the Drivers’ Championship.
After a clean and composed qualifying session, Norris starts from P2 and will need to make the most of the long run into Turn 1 to challenge Verstappen early. Failing to do so could open the door for Piastri to apply pressure later in the race — especially if strategy or weather shake things up.
But the big story was Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who delivered a sensational performance in just his fifth Grand Prix weekend. The 18-year-old Italian outqualified both Ferraris and his teammate George Russell, earning a spot on the second row and turning heads across the paddock. If Mercedes plays their cards right, Antonelli could be in the mix for a maiden podium.
Kimi Antonelli was unlucky in the Sprint race, with his maiden pole position overshadowed by changing weather conditions that shuffled the order. After a chaotic session, he was classified P7.
The Mercedes rookie will be out to make amends in the main race, and you can expect a determined charge as he looks to convert his potential into a meaningful result.

Miami GP betting predictions after qualifying
Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) to win
The rookie is proving he’s more than worthy of the hype that surrounded his Mercedes debut, having outqualified teammate George Russell in both qualifying sessions in Miami. Starting from P3 and priced at $12, he offers serious value — especially with rain expected, which could throw strategy into chaos. After the frustration of the Sprint, Antonelli will be hungrier than ever and looms as a genuine threat in what could be a very unpredictable race.
Kimi Antonelli to win
Lando Norris (McLaren) to win
Lando Norris looks dialled in this weekend, finally putting a rough stretch of form behind him with a composed showing in both the Sprint and qualifying. At $2.60, he offers great value as he lines up alongside Max Verstappen on the front row. Norris often delivers his best when he’s toe-to-toe with Verstappen and under pressure from teammate Oscar Piastri — and with rain looming, he’s primed for a strong performance come Monday.
Lando Norris to win
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) podium finish
Ferrari haven’t been at their best this weekend, and Charles Leclerc’s struggles have been front and centre — crashing on the formation lap before the Sprint race in tricky wet conditions, leaving him without a proper run so far. However, with rain once again looming for the main race and Leclerc known for bouncing back under pressure, the $13 on offer for a podium finish represents serious value. Expect the Monegasque to come out swinging as he looks to salvage his Miami weekend.
