Saturday night NBL action continues in Melbourne with the Brisbane Bullets travelling south to take on Melbourne United at John Cain Arena.
Both sides form has been poor of late as United will need to find their first win in over a month, while the Bullets are looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the JackJumpers last week.
The last five clashes between these two clubs have seen United come out on top on three occasions. However, their last three matches were all in preseason this year. The Bullets have been dealt multiple injury blows, as have United, but the home side should be too good on their home court. Look for United to come away with a big bounce back win by the 11+ point margin at $2.75.
The injury toll on both sides has detracted heavily from their offensive output. Longer minutes for the starters and key players is creating excess fatigue, poorer decisions and shooting. Both sides are also low on confidence given their recent form, making defence a higher priority to limit the damage caused by the opposition. This will result in a low scoring match under 167.5 total match points paying $1.85.
Despite the injuries suffered by United, Rayjon Tucker, Xavier Rathan-Mayes and captain Chris Goulding will still be leading United. On their night, any of these three starters can score 30 points on their own, and all three can still share the ball for their teammates. Look for this trio to lead United and register the highest scoring quarter of the match paying $1.68.
Key matchup: Chris Goulding vs Nathan Sobey
The back court match up of these two Boomers guards will be the highlight of the night. Sobey’s ability to score and distribute for his teammates is up there with the best in the NBL. The older, experienced head will be pivotal for this injured Bullets side looking to rebuild during the middle of the season. For Goulding, he can catch fire from deep at any point, and is almost impossible to put out. The Bullets will need to be in Goulding’s face early to limit his impact. Should Goulding get away to a fast start, United will be very hard to catch.
