Melbourne tipped to retain World’s Most Liveable City gong
MELBOURNE is the -200 favourite to be named the World’s Most Liveable City for the seventh straight year.
Online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au sees Vienna as the biggest threat at +400 ahead of Vancouver at +700.
A number of other Australian cities are in the mix, but surprisingly, Sydney isn’t one of them ahead of this month’s announcement by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
Adelaide is a +1200 chance, Perth is +1600, Brisbane +2000, Hobart +5000 and Darwin is the outsider at +10000.
“Sydney may well be the world’s most beautiful city, but it’s not the most liveable according to our market,” said Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen.
“This is some great fodder for Melburnians in their ongoing us vs. them debate.”
