The UFC main event this Saturday will feature the featherweight division with #2 Max Holloway facing #4 Arnold Allen at UFC Fight Night in Kansas City.
Max “Blessed” Holloway is still an elite featherweight, though after three losses to current champion Alexander Volkanovski, he likely needs Volkanovski to move up in weight for another title shot. Holloway’s last bout was a lopsided loss to Volkanovski, with the judges scoring it 50-45 for the champion last July.
Despite losses to Volkanovski and Dustin Poirier in a lightweight title fight, Holloway has gone 16-4 in the UFC since 2014. The former champion successfully defended the 145-pound belt three times and is known for fantastic striking, movement, and volume over five rounds. Holloway averages 7.24 significant strikes per minute and holds records for most career significant strikes in the UFC at 2,975 and most in a single fight at 445 against Calvin Kattar.

“Almighty” Arnold Allen has a 12-fight winning streak and is 10-0 in the UFC. He beat Calvin Kattar by TKO after Kattar tore his ACL in Round 2. Allen looked sharp, using quick hands to pick apart Kattar while evading strikes. His boxing also led to knocking out Dan Hooker in Round 1 to earn Performance of the Night.
Allen has polished boxing and sets up power shots with leg kicks. Though a capable grappler, he hasn’t used that part of his game recently.
Max Holloway vs Arnold Allen betting preview
Allen could win since Holloway recently struggled with Volkanovski’s fast punches. However, until Holloway’s chin goes, I’m backing him to avoid damage and land volume. Holloway has dominated this division; losses to Volkanovski don’t change that.
Holloway’s endless gas tank, output, and experience in five-rounders should make the difference. Allen has never gone past 15 minutes and gassed against Sodiq Yusuff in Round 3. He likely can’t match Holloway’s pace.
The main event features an elite veteran against an unbeaten rising star. Expect high-volume striking and fluid movement from both fighters. In the end, Holloway’s experience and stamina will outlast Allen’s early success.
