Manners key for Time Awaits at Flemington

Tony McEvoy is hoping improved racing manners can give Time Awaits an important stakes race win at Flemington.

And if the filly proves up to the task in Saturday’s Talindert Stakes she may then back up in the Group One Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield a week later.

Time Awaits returned from a spell to finish second to Formality in the Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield on February 4, a run her trainer described as superb.

“If she didn’t pull, Dwayne Dunn feels she would have given the favourite a run for her money,” McEvoy said.

“She pulled in the mid-stages and was very good I thought in the finish so I’m looking forward to seeing what she can do for us on the weekend.

“If she won really well on Saturday then we would consider paying up for the Diamond.”

Time Awaits, to be ridden by Corey Brown on Saturday, is not among the entries for the Blue Diamond and connections would need to pay a $55,000 late entry to run in the race.

McEvoy says if Time Awaits doesn’t head to the Blue Diamond there are still plenty of options for the filly in Melbourne and Sydney.

Domination will also represent the McEvoy stable in Saturday’s Listed race after the trainer had a change of heart.

McEvoy intended starting Domination at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

“I galloped him at the Valley on Monday but he didn’t quite handle the track well enough so I’ve decided to run him on Saturday and after that we’ll make some decision on him,” McEvoy said.
