Lindsay Park out to keep G1 streak going
After a Group One double at Caulfield, Lindsay Park will have multiple runners in a feature race at Flemington.
The stable will saddle four starters in Saturday’s Australian Guineas as it chases its fifth win in the 1600m-race.
Last week at Caulfield, Lindsay Park had six runners in the Blue Diamond Stakes which it won with Catchy before winning the Oakleigh Plate with Sheidel, one of three runners.
Colts Seaburge and Snitzon and fillies Harlow Gold and Fuhryk will represent the stable in the Guineas.
While the Blue Diamond lead-up went smoothly it hasn’t been the same ahead of the Australian Guineas.
Snitzson and Fuhryk both missed important lead-up races while Seaburge disappointed the stable with his first-up performance.
Senior trainer David Hayes said Harlow Gold impressed with her first-up performance but generally improved the further she got into her preparation.
Hayes said Seaburge was disappointing at the start of his last campaign before showing improvement.
“He’s worked well since and we expect him to bounce back,” Hayes said.
Snitzson missed a start in the C S Hayes Stakes at Flemington on February 18 following his seventh placing in the Autumn Stakes at Caulfield on February 11 when he over-raced and got his tongue over the bit.
“He was a bit fresh and needed the run at Caulfield and was then down to run but got a bit of a foot problem at Flemington,” Hayes said.
“He’s recovered and has worked beautifully since.”
Fuhryk was scratched from the Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield last week after striking her head in the barrier.
Hayes says the filly is “flying”.
“It’s far from ideal missing that run but she did a good piece of work on Monday and looks pretty fit to me,” Hayes said.
“She’s been in work quite a while.”
Hayes said Harlow Gold was in good shape after her first-up third in the Vanity Stakes at Flemington on March 18.
“She’s right on track,” Hayes said.
“The further she gets into her preparation probably the better but she’s worked well since her last run.”
