Liam Lawson hit with 60-place penalty ahead of US Grand Prix
Liam Lawson is set to begin the United States Grand Prix from the rear of the grid due to a penalty for changing engine components on his RB.
It was announced after the Singapore GP that Lawson would take over Daniel Ricciardo’s seat for the rest of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

The Technical Delegates Report stated that Lawson’s vehicle has been equipped with a new internal combustion engine (ICE), turbocharger (TC), motor generator unit-heat (MGU-H), motor generator unit-kinetic (MGU-K), energy store (ES) and control electronics (CE), which has exceeded the limit for the season.
Lawson will now have to prove what he has got at the rear of the pack for Sunday’s race at the Circuit of The Americas.
Despite this facing a penalty setback, his practice session debut showed promise, ending in P13 and finishing in P15 for the Sprint Qualifying today.
The leading online bookmakers currently have Lawson priced as a $3.50 chance at a points finish.
