Ladbrokes becomes official betting partner of PGA Australia
The Australian branch of UK-based bookie Ladbrokes has signed a three-year deal with PGA Australia to become the official online betting partner.
The deal will see Ladbrokes sponsor the PGA Pro-Am Series and the PGA Legends tour, via naming rights, with the bookie’s logo already displayed on the PGA website.
The agreement also suggests further golf sponsorship in the future is on the cards, including for other major golf events in Australia.
Ladbrokes Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jason Kibsgaard, commented on the deal in a media release.
“We are very proud to be involved in sporting codes across Australia, and are excited to join forces with the PGA of Australia,” he said.
PGA Australia General Commercial Manager, David Pryles, has praised the deal.
“To have an internationally renowned brand and market leader partner our Pro-Am, Legends events is a huge boost to professional golf in Australia.
“This alignment will benefit both PGA Professionals as well as amateur golfers and it’s great for the profile of our sport.”
The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series is a nationwide event for professional and amateur golfers which feeds into the PGA Tour of Australasia. There will be around 200 events held around Australia and New Zealand this year at local golf clubs.
Meanwhile, the Ladbrokes Legends Tour is for professional golfers aged 50 and over with around $1 million in prize money on offer. There will be 70 events held throughout Australia and New Zealand this year with regulars including international superstars Wayne Grady, Peter Senior and Ian Baker-Finch.
Other Australian golfers to have played on the tour includes Michael Clayton, Rodger Davis, Peter Fowler and Michael Harwood.
Ladbrokes recently signed a sponsorship deal with the National Rugby League’s Newcastle Knights.
The bookie scored naming rights with its logo printed on team jerseys, displayed on goal posts and around McDonald Jones stadium.
The new deal follows on from an extension of the Gold Coast Titans sponsorship, which will now run until 2019, with the same logo displays as the Knights.
