La Liga Matchday 27 preview, betting tips & goalscorer picks
The chase for the La Liga title continues this weekend with 10 matches of top-flight Spanish football. Here are our free soccer betting tips for Matchday 27 of the 2023/24 La Liga season.
Celta Vigo vs Almeria
Saturday, March 2 – 7am AEDT – Abanca-Balaidos
Sitting just three points clear of the relegation zone, Celta Vigo have an excellent chance for critical points as they host the last-placed Almeria. Winless this season, nothing has gone right for the visitors, but after three consecutive draws, this match may be closer than expected. With the odds skewed towards the home side, look for Almeria to also get on the scoresheet for added value.
Celta Vigo / Both teams to score
Sevilla vs Real Sociedad
Sunday, March 3 – 12am AEDT – Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
With just one win from their past five matches, Real Sociedad now find themselves outside the top six. Facing a trip to face Sevilla this weekend, expect a cracking contest as the home side have just one loss – to Real Madrid – in their past five matches. Recent history between the sides has favoured the visitors, but with Sociedad in poor form, this match looks set to be close.
Draw
Rayo Vallecano vs Cadiz
Sunday, March 3 – 2:15am AEDT – Estadio de Vallecas
The two lowest-scoring sides in La Liga face off as the 14th-placed Rayo Vallecano host the 18th-placed Cadiz. With both sides on extended losing streaks, it’s a great opportunity for points in the relegation fight. The visitors have never won a match at the Estadio de Vallecas, but with the home side showing little value with the top La Liga bookmakers, add the under in a match that should have limited chances.
Rayo Vallecano / Under 2.5 goals
Getafe vs Las Palmas
Sunday, March 3 – 4:30am AEDT – Estadio Coliseum
With the second-best defensive record in La Liga, Las Palmas have shocked many this season as they sit in eighth spot. Facing mid-table rival Getafe this weekend, they look to continue their good run of form. Getafe will be keen to bounce back from their 4-0 loss to Barcelona last week, but with both starting centre-backs suspended, they may struggle defensively.
Las Palmas to win
Valencia vs Real Madrid
Sunday, March 3 – 7am AEDT – Estadio de Mestalla
Holding a six-point gap at the top of the table, Real Madrid are cruising towards the title. Heading to Valencia, they will be looking to repeat their emphatic 5-1 victory earlier this season. One concern is the absence of their two top scorers, Jude Bellingham and Joselu, but this creates an opportunity for Brazilian Rodrygo de Goes to lead the line as he looks to add to his eight goals for the season.
Rodrygo de Goes anytime goalscorer
Villarreal vs Granada
Monday, March 4 – 12am AEDT – Estadio de la Ceramica
After securing an unexpected win over Real Sociedad last weekend, Villarreal have now gone six matches unbeaten. Hosting the 19th-placed Granada, expect them continue their run of form. However, with the odds skewed in Villarreal’s favour, put your money on a high-scoring match between two of the worst defences in the competition.
Villarreal / Over 2.5 goals
Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis
Monday, March 4 – 2:15am AEDT – Estadio Civitas Metropolitano
Following their impressive 3-1 win over Athletic Club last weekend, Real Betis have now worked their way into the top six. Undefeated in their past five, they now face a tough test as they look to break a nine-match winless run against Atletico Madrid. After drawing with the last-placed Almeria, the home side look vulnerable, making a result difficult to pick in what should be a back-and-forth matchup.
Both teams to score
Mallorca vs Girona
Monday, March 4 – 4:30am AEDT – Estadi Mallorca Son Moix
Girona returned to winning ways on Monday night with a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, breaking a three-match winless run. Still keeping their faint title hopes alive, the fairytale story rolls on this weekend as they look to secure victory against relegation candidate Mallorca. After a 5-3 victory earlier in the season, expect a similar result from Girona, who offer great value on the road.
Girona / Over 2.5 goals
Athletic Club vs Barcelona
Monday, March 4 – 7am AEDT – San Mames Barria
Sitting just two points behind Girona in third place, Barcelona have plenty on the line as they look to extend their five-match unbeaten run. Athletic Club will be looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Real Betis, but they will have to do so without the suspended Nico Williams. Undefeated in their past eight La Liga meetings, Barcelona offer great value as the away side.
Barcelona to win
Osasuna vs Deportivo Alaves
Tuesday, March 5 – 7am AEDT – Estadio El Sadar
On a run of three matches unbeaten, Osasuna will be looking to continue their charge up the table as they welcome Deportivo Alaves. Sitting in 12th, just one spot behind Osasuna, the visitors have been on a run of their own, drawing their past three matches. After Osasuna secured a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, they come in as rightful favourites against an Alaves outfit that has secured just two wins on the road this season.
Osasuna to win
