Kyrgios, de Minaur in line to face Djokovic at Indian Wells
The 2025 Indian Wells draw has put Australian pair Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur in the firing line of former world No.1 Novak Djokovic at the Masters 1000 event in California.
The draw — released on Tuesday (AEDT) — has Kyrgios up against a qualifier or lucky loser as he continues his comeback to professional tennis this week.
Should the 29-year-old prevail, he will face 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic in the second round.
The two have formed a strong relationship over recent years, even playing doubles together in Brisbane in January.
Kyrgios leads the pair’s head-to-head ledger 2-1 but is unlikely to be a favourite at leading bookmakers should the match eventuate.
Djokovic will have Andy Murray by his side in the year’s first Masters event, with the former rivals recently extending their coaching arrangement.
“It’s indefinite in terms of how long we are going to work together,” Djokovic said last week in Qatar.

“But we agreed we are going to work most likely in the States and then some clay-court tournaments and see how it goes after that.”
If Djokovic defeats Kyrgios and navigates a potential third-round clash against No.25 seed Francisco Cerundolo, he could face de Minaur in the round of 16.
The top-ranked Aussie has a bye through to the second round, where we will face either David Goffin or Lorenzo Sonego, with No.21 seed Hubert Hurkacz likely waiting in the third round.
If de Minaur and Djokovic do meet in the round of 16, the winner could face off against tournament favourite Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.
Australian betting sites have the Spaniard priced at $3 to win the Indian Wells Masters for the third-straight year.
Djokovic holds the second line of title betting at $7.50, while top seed Alexander Zverev is paying $8 at Marantelli Bet.
De Minaur is well back in the market at $34, while top tennis bookies have Kyrgios at $151 to claim his first trophy since 2022.
