Stud failure Kementari makes his return to racing as a gelding in the Star Kingdom at Rosehill.

After a short-lived stint at stud, Group One winner Kementari is poised for his return to racing as a gelding in the Star Kingdom Stakes at Rosehill.

The winner of the 2018 Group One Randwick Guineas, the high-profile horse was retired to Darley Stud after last year’s autumn carnival.

Fertility issues soon put a halt to his breeding career.

Godolphin opted to geld Kementari and put him back into work with trainer James Cummings and the five-year-old will run in Saturday’s Group Three Star Kingdom (1200m) after his comeback was delayed by a week.

Kementari had been an acceptor for last Saturday’s Group One Galaxy but was scratched on race morning to wait for the Star Kingdom with Cummings believing he would be more suited at 1200m.

“He drew wide over 1100 metres last week and we decided to delay his return for this event,” Cummings said.

“A favourable draw and the 1200 metres is more appealing and more in his hitting zone.”

Along with his Randwick Guineas win, Kementari has been placed at Group One level four times,

He has had two barrier trials leading into his return, including a narrow win over Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth in a 1045m heat on March 12.

“It’s up to the horse to fulfil his destiny,” Cummings said.
