Just Zerene has one chance in a million
Trainer Tony McEvoy says Just Zerene will be given one chance to qualify for the Magic Millions.
Expensive filly Just Zerene will get her only chance to qualify for next month’s Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic in the Group Three B J McLachlan Plate.
Just Zerene missed a start at Eagle Farm last Saturday when she was controversially the second emergency for a two-year-old handicap because of restricted field sizes.
It has not stopped punters Australia-wide backing Just Zerene for the Magic Millions Classic.
She has firmed from a general quote of $26 to be $6 in most Millions markets despite the fact she has not started in a race or an official trial.
Trainer Tony McEvoy has made it clear Saturday’s Group Three McLachlan (1200m) will be Just Zerene’s one and only attempt to make the Magic Millions field.

“If she doesn’t win or get enough money to make the field she will head straight to Sydney where we will concentrate on the Golden Slipper,” he said.
“She has had a jump-out at Eagle Farm and gone OK.”
The $800,000 filly has drawn barrier eight in a field of 14 on Saturday and will be ridden by Luke Currie.
McEvoy will also have Sun City in the McLachlan and he will be ridden by James McDonald from gate six.
“A top three finish should see him safely into the Millions but if not we can give him another run,” McEvoy said.
“He is a colt and he should back up OK.”
