Jockey Tomizawa to keep Millions ride
Veteran Toowoomba jockey Nozi Tomizawa has made a rare trip to Brisbane and his win on Ardoyne Road has earned him a ride in the Magic Millions Classic.
Tomizawa usually rides in Toowoomba on Saturdays but was so impressed with Ardoyne Road’s track work he agreed to head to Doomben.
His faith was repaid with Ardoyne Road ($21), who was slow to go but swept around the field to lead the rest of the way and beat Katy’s Daughter ($8) by 1-3/4 lengths in the two-year-old plate (1050m).
Ardonye Road, who is by sire Top Echelon, cost $70,000 at the Magic Millions sales and will now go to the Classic (1200m) on January 13.

Trainer Tony Sears had Ardoyne Road entered for the Ipswich meeting on Friday but it was abandoned due to rain.
Sears says he probably would have run Ardoyne Road at Doomben but had been worried by the barrier of 12.
“She really has been working very well and Nozi has been doing all of the work. He has been with me a long time and he can keep the ride in the Magic Millions,” Sears said.
He will give Ardoyne Road time to get over the run because she was slightly stressed by the heat.
