Jeff Lloyd second in Durban July
Jeff Lloyd has finished 2nd in his final attempt to win South Africa’s major race, the Durban July.
Jockey Jeff Lloyd has finished second in his final attempt to win the Durban July, the premier race in his native South Africa.
Lloyd, who has announced his intention to retire, possibly before the start of the new season on August 1, will win the Brisbane premiership for the third consecutive year.
The 57-year-old, a former South African champion, made a remarkable comeback after suffering a stroke in 2013 and was keen to add a victory in the Durban July but had to settle for second on Made To Order.
Trainer Justin Snaith snared the trifecta with Do It Again the winner and Elusive Silva third.
Lloyd has finished third in the race 11 times.
