Round four of the 2022/23 NBL season continues Saturday with a blockbuster clash between the Tasmania JackJumpers and the Perth Wildcats. The JackJumpers have had a busy start to the season, playing six games already, while the Wildcats have only played four and haven’t seen the court for over a week.
That last match the Wildcats played was against Melbourne United where Bryce Cotton was busy early offensively, but the first-quarter lead United took into the break ended up being too large to overcome. For the JackJumpers, their last match was also against United and a fast start ensured the they were too good for the Victorian side.
The long layoff for the Wildcats will come as a huge welcome, especially for Cotton, as the side travels to Tasmania. The home team will surely put up a fight, but Cotton and the Wildcats should be too good as they go on to win this game by 1-10 points at $2.25 with Marantelli Bet.
When Cotton leads, the Wildcats to wins, and he is generally supported by Corey Webster from the bench and Brady Manek. The week’s layoff for Cotton will do him the world of good ahead of the clash with the JackJumpers, who themselves have Rashard Kelly and Milton Doyle that are elite scorers. Should these players stand up for their respective sides, this should be a high-scoring affair that exceeds the over/under of 162.5 total points for the match.
The Wildcats have led at halftime in two of their three wins this season. It’s a simple but effective plan: take the lead early and make the opposition chase you with time running out on the clock. Cotton will surely attack this game in the same fashion, and should the JackJumpers fail to stop him, the Wildcats will go to the halftime break with the lead, paying around $1.57 with the top online bookmakers.
Key matchup: Milton Doyle v Bryce Cotton
The battle of the backcourt will be key to the success of the JackJumpers at home. Cotton started last week’s game against United at an incredible rate, and only fatigue slowed him down. The JackJumpers will need to force their defence of Cotton to create this fatigue with strong on-ball defence and double teaming if need be. Should the JackJumpers execute this, Doyle will have more energy, time and space on the offensive end to lead this JackJumpers side to an unlikely home win.
