Jack Della Maddalena to return against Leon Edwards at UFC London
Australian welterweight star Jack Della Maddalena is reportedly negotiating a high-stakes matchup against former welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night London on March 22.
The news comes from Australian combat journalist Benny P, who has a strong track record of breaking Jack Della Maddalena’s fight announcements.
In a recent YouTube update, Benny P said, “It does seem like this is going to happen. I’ve heard it from multiple sources from the JDM camp. I just can’t imagine that all these people are hearing this if there’s no weight to it.”
He also addressed rumours about other potential opponents for Della Maddalena, saying,
“Especially because it doesn’t appear like it’s going to be Usman at all. I don’t know what’s going on with Usman, to be honest with you.
“I don’t know why Usman is out of this equation because it was looking very likely that it was going to be Usman vs. Jack Della.
“So, I’m not sure what has happened to Usman—if he’s injured, if they found another opponent?
“But it is very likely we’re going to see Jack Della Maddalena vs. Leon Edwards in London, March 22nd.”
Della Maddalena has been absent from competition since his stunning TKO victory over Gilbert Burns in UFC 299.
The victory was made even more impressive by the fact that Della Maddalena had broken his arm early in the fight but pushed through to secure the win.
Unfortunately, complications from the injury, including infections, led to four surgeries, delaying his return to action.
Facing Edwards, who currently sits at No. 2 in the welterweight rankings.
Edwards is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 for the Welterweight Title.
While the bout is not yet confirmed, Benny P’s reliable track record has fans optimistic.
He reminded his audience that fight plans can change abruptly, emphasising the unpredictable nature of the sport.
If the matchup comes together, it could be a pivotal fight for Della Maddalena, potentially propelling him into title contention in the stacked 170-pound division.
Unfortunately, due to no confirmation, no UFC bookmakers have prices available yet.
