Hobart Hurricanes vs Adelaide Strikers BBL13 preview
Match 33 of the BBL13 competition could be the second-last match for either the Hobart Hurricanes or Adelaide Strikers when they clash at Blundstone Arena in Hobart on Thursday. With the two clubs sitting in fifth and sixth spots, respectively, on the ladder and one win outside of the top four, this is a must-win clash for either side’s hopes of playing in the finals.
The Adelaide Strikers broke a five-game losing streak at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday when they beat the Hurricanes by five wickets with four balls left in the match. Jamie Overton and Cameron Boyce were the stars of the match with the ball in hand, combining for five of the sides’ seven wickets before captain Matt Short, Chris Lynn, and Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey all chipped in with the bat to complete a successful run chase.
The Hobart Hurricanes have suffered a blow, with fast bowler Riley Meredith again succumbing to injury midway through the match. However, spinners Paddy Dooley and Nikhil Chaudhary were very economical with the ball after wicketkeeper/batter Ben McDermott returned to his best BBL form by blasting 95 runs from 61 balls, including seven 4s and five 6s, without being dismissed.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Adelaide Strikers betting predictions
The Strikers are favourites to win this match, having just beaten the Hurricanes relatively easily on Tuesday in Adelaide. However, the conditions at Blundstone Arena will be vastly different for the visitors, who have lost each of their last nine away matches. The Hurricanes have won two of their three matches in Hobart this season, with their only loss coming in a run-affected match against the Stars. +110 is a great value bet with Neds for the Hurricanes to bounce back and secure another win on their home ground.
Ben McDermott’s innings on Tuesday was very different compared to other opening batters in the BBL this season. The former Australian batter dominated the strike late in the match to score his runs, having spent a significant period at the non-striker’s end for a large portion of the Hurricanes innings. McDermott has scored 50+ runs in each of his last three matches against the Strikers and is another great value play to continue his strong form and score 50+ runs on Thursday, paying +300 with the leading cricket bookmakers.
Matt Short has continued his strong run of form with the bat, as has Chris Lynn, with both players scoring 30+ runs in five of their last six matches. Both batters hit the ball hard, particularly early in their innings, which bodes well for a ground like Blundstone Arena, which is small compared to other Australian grounds. +199, respectively, are great odds for Short and Lynn both to score 25+ runs each in this match.
