Hobart Hurricanes vs Adelaide Strikers match preview
The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to continue their strong Big Bash League form as they face host the Adelaide Strikers this Sunday night.
The Hurricanes secured their most impressive win of the season on Wednesday night, beating the first-placed Sixers by 50 runs.
A strong all-round performance with the bat set a total of 161, before the bowlers tore through the Sydney batting lineup, knocking them over for just 111.
All-rounder Nikhil Chaudhury was a standout with 42 runs and figures of 1/15 off three overs, while English international Chris Jordan also took 3/22 and scored 16 runs.
ThWith three consecutive victories under their belt, the Canes are firmly in contention for a finals spot.owever, their net run rate is poor after losing their opener with 11 wickets remaining. At +500 with top BBL bookies, they have the third-best odds for the competition.
In a major boost, Hurricanes pace bowler Nathan Ellis looks set to return from illness for this clash.
The Strikers also had a win in their last game, beating the Melbourne Renegades by five wickets and 17 balls remaining. Bowling first, fast bowler Henry Thornton was a standout taking 3/22, as the Gades were restricted to just 142. In the chase it was the Chris Lynn show, as he scored 88 off just 51 balls to comfortably lead Adelaide home.
It was a much-needed win for the Strikers as they previously had just one win in the tournament. But as they sit in sixth spot with more games played than any other side, it is no surprise to see they have the second-worst odds to win the tournament at +1200 with Marantelli Bet .
The Strikers are also set for a key inclusion, with captain Matt Short set to return at the top of the order.
Hurricanes vs Strikers predictions
Given the Hurricanes smashed the top-of-the-ladder Sixers on Wednesday, they look like one of the top contenders in the BBL. The Strikers struggle with depth in their pace bowling department, which will be targeted by the experienced Hobart batting lineup. As slight favourites with major Australian betting apps, take the Canes at -125.
Expected to return to the side, Hurricanes fast bowler Nathan Ellis is the most dangerous bowler in the attack. He won’t always take the new ball but always takes the death overs as he has a wide array of slower deliveries. At +275 with leading cricket bookies, back Ellis to lead the Hobart attack.
Following a disastrous opening game for leg spinner Lloyd Pope, no one has taken more wickets for the Strikers this tournament. Bowling key overs through the middle of the game, Pope often draws out the false shot. He has taken multiple wickets on three occasions, so back him to do it once again at +185 with PlayUp.
