As the Big Bash League approaches the concluding stages of the season, the Adelaide Strikers are set to travel to the Gabba to take on the Brisbane Heat on Wednesday night.

The Heat were on the receiving end of a Ben McDermott masterclass when the in-form Hurricanes batsman thumped the Heat makeshift bowling attack around the Gabba last time out. If the Heat can gain a positive result against the Strikers, it will go on to help their case in making the BBL11 finals.

Adelaide on the other hand are languishing at the bottom of the Big Bash table but are only two points off the fifth-placed Heat. They were similarly bought undone by a batting masterclass, this time by Joe Clarke from the Melbourne Stars when going down in the final over when defending just 139.

Brisbane have been savaged by Covid cutting its way through their team and will still be without most of their best starting 11 for Wednesday’s clash with the Strikers.

The Strikers are going through a form of Covid trouble of their own, with former test player Matt Renshaw set to miss a second straight game since returning a positive test. Outside of Renshaw, the Strikers are set to field close to their best side against a Heat lineup full of ring ins.

Despite missing the likes of Chris Lynn, Jimmy Pierson, Ben Duckett, Jack Wildermuth and Mark Steketee, online bookmakers have given the Brisbane Heat a chance on Wednesday and have offered up a quote of $2.15. Despite sitting at the bottom of the BBL11 table, the Strikers a $1.71 favourite in a match that may just kickstart their finals push.

Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Strikers betting tips

Brisbane Heat to win

Call us a sucker for an underdog story, but the way the Brisbane Heat have performed in their past couple of games suggest they may be a good bet against the struggling Strikers. Former Striker Jake Lehmann has been a great pickup scoring 65 & 9 in his two matches as Heat player and alongside Lachlan Pfeffer has given Heat fans plenty to cheer about. Alongside the mystery that Mujeeb Ur Rahman brings with the ball, the Heat have added young talent like Will Prestwidge and David Grant who we think can steer the Heat to one of the more remarkable wins in Big Bash history.

Top Brisbane Heat Wicket Taker: Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman has only taken seven wickets throughout BBL11, but against a struggling Adelaide Strikers lineup he may just spin his web at the Gabba. He has one of the best economy rates in T20 cricket around the world going at around six runs an over and if he is at his miserly best against the Strikers, he may just pick up a wicket or two on the way.
