The Collingwood Magpies have beaten two of the AFL’s top-four teams on the trot and will look to secure another big win this Sunday, but it will not be easy against the Hawthorn Hawks at the MCG.
Sam Mitchell’s Hawks started the year very well but have begun to fade out of more matches as the season progresses, as many young teams tend to in the back-end of the year.
The Collingwood Magpies are up and about after knocking off the Dockers in the West and holding off a very talent Carlton squad last round, but how long can this momentum last?
With no Brodie Grundy in the ruck the Pies have been unable to break even at the stoppages, but Mason Cox managed to lift at the right times last week and do enough to help the Pies in the middle.
Ned Reeves and Max Lynch are both pushing to return this weekend for the Hawthorn Hawks, adding some much-needed ruck stock to the injury-plagued list.
There is every chance the Pies will elect to make no changes after winning two very good games in the last fortnight, but Tyler Brown could be in doubt after another quiet performance.

Key matchup: Jai Newcombe vs Nick Daicos
The Rising Star Medal has never been so close at the halfway mark of the season, as a handful of players are in the race to take home the prestigious award. Two of the frontrunners will face off in this contest on Sunday, as Jai Newcombe will apply his trade in the middle for the Hawks and Nick Daicos will glide across half back for the Pies.
Both players have their benefits in their separate positions, and it is clear as day they both know how to find the footy. We would not be surprised if Daicos works his way up the ground throughout the day, while you will find Newcombe working hard at almost every centre bounce. Get behind both of these young stars to rack up some disposals this weekend.
Hawthorn Hawks vs Collingwood Magpies betting tips
Collingwood Magpies 1-39
Form would suggest the Pies are actually in for a big victory this week against the Hawks, but Hawthorn has always been a hard team for the Pies to knock off. Even though the Hawks got done by 67 points in round 11, they will be more than capable of keeping the margin to a minimum this weekend, as they still have a very impressive midfield.
Collingwood Magpies 1-39
Dylan Moore 2+ goals
One of the most underrated players in the AFL has to be Dylan Moore, who could easily be in contention as an All-Australian small forward this season. Moore has kicked 17 goals in 11 matches this season, including multiple goals on five occasions. Four of Moore’s multiple-goal games came against top four sides, which the Magpies are currently matching with their current form.

We are backing in the Collingwood Magpies to make it three wins on the trot this Sunday, with Nick Daicos to prove he is the best young player in the comp with over 25 disposals, while Dylan Moore kicks a couple of cheeky goals for the Hawks.
